Who started the CNO?
The CNO is the brainchild of Dr. Nick Yiannios. Many of the principles regarding the timing of the bite were taught to Dr. Yiannios by Dr. Robert Kerstein, a researcher and prosthodontist who discovered and published about DTR. The principles and protocols involving diagnosing the TMJ joints themselves are also addressed within the CNO core curriculum, mostly in line with the foundational occlusion teachings of Dr. Mark Piper, the world-renowned TMJ oral and maxillofacial surgeon and creator of the Piper classification system for the temporomandibular joints (TMJ’s). Dr. Yiannios has himself contributed novel research and diagnostic protocols within the scientific literature, both within textbooks and scholarly journals.
